Test Engineering Manager

The Test Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and supervising a team of engineers and test technicians as they develop testers, test products, modify tester hardware, modify tester software and create solutions to technical problems.
The Test Engineering Manager is expected to perform test engineering level tasks as necessary to support the needs of the business.
Essential Functions:

o Manages and oversees the requirements gathering, documentation, design, build, validation, implementation, change control, version control and on-going quality assurance of inhouse testing devices including related purchased or written inhouse software.
o Works with customers to co-develop test systems or implement existing customer developed test systems.
o Ensures test software is developed to current industry standards.
o Manages and implements the appropriate testing traceability in coordination with the currently implemented Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to capture the required test data for units under test.
o Ensures testing equipment is functioning to documented requirements to prevent false results.
o Performs yield and tester quality analysis to implement continual improvements for both the test devices/software and test procedures.
o Manages the evaluation, recommendation and implementation of testing procedures and strategies for products, systems, components, or modifications to testers and procedures.
o Acts as an advisor to the test engineering team regarding projects, tasks and operations.
o Acts as the liaison to other engineering functions and other functional groups.
o Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget.
o Hires, trains, and mentors other engineers and supporting staff.
o Ensures the test engineering group continues professional development to remain knowledgeable as technology changes.
o Works with other functional groups to improve manufacturing processes and yields.
o Interacts and effectively communicates with customers and co-workers at all levels.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to moving parts and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment can be medium.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
This position requires sitting several hours at a time, in addition to walking, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs throughout the day.
The employee must lift and/or move items up to 25lbs and occasionally up to 50lbs with assistance.
Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position.
Due to the nature of business this position must be able to work a flexible workschedule with varying hours.
There is an expectation of working 45 hours a week.
Overtime may be required depending on need.
Travel:
Occasional travel during the day may be necessary.
Required Education and
Experience:
BA/BS in Engineering or relevant fieldSupervisory experienceStrong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in the use of MS OfficeIn depth knowledge of corporate risk management practicesHigh attention to detailStrong leadership and organizational skillsExperience writing and managing software development for test applications utilizing C, C#,.
Net, Visual Basic, SQL, Labview or other current industry standard programming languages and tools.
Project management experience for tester or other device development.
Preferred Education and
Experience:
MS/MA in Engineering or relevant fieldElectronic manufacturing experience Recommended Skills.
